Where Do You Share?
To be sure, I haven’t bookmarked a page, locally, in my browser, in years. Literally.
Del.icio.us has always been my bookmarking service of choice ever since I first discovered it (excluding a couple trials with Magnolia and Blinklist) but now things are getting complicated.
These days, you can share, store, clip and mark stuff with almost any service, and things are getting as fragmented as they once were.
The new delicious.com looks gorgeous and seems to work just as well if not better than before. But as Nic Brisbourne asked earlier today on Twitter
Is there any way to import my Friendfeed or Facebook contacts into Delicious?
Not that I know of. But there is Social Median, a new news-based, Reddit-style, bookmarking and clipping social networking service (yeah, I’ve no other way to call it) that allows you to do that.
Very smart.
But Social Median is no Delicious. And then there’s Twine, which I use, but which won’t let me import all the tweeple, and then there’s Kwippy (which does) and Browzmi (which in turn doesn’t).
Getting social, it’s complicated. Sharing stuff, it’s becoming almost impossible.
Where do you share?
My Social Median page (for news)
My Kwippy page (thanks Joe)
My Twine (for science)
My Delicious (for anything else)
With Firefox 3, I’ve been starring pages locally in my browser thanks to the new awesome bar. Otherwise, I haven’t really been bookmarking locally outside of my bookmarks toolbar.
Beyond that, I only use delicious. FriendFeed is my new best friend.
August 1st, 2008 at 5:20 pmWell… I use regular local bookmarks. I feel so country bumpkin because of this post, thanks Nils.
August 1st, 2008 at 7:16 pmJoe, I haven’t really looked into all the things FF3 can do. I like how smart it just seems to have become, but that’s about it. I think I should have a go. I do have a couple bookmarks in the bookmarks toolbar though, both at work in FF as at home in Camino.
Tom, it’s my pleasure. Seriously though, I think the vast majority of people does that. Most of my friends and acquaintances do, and none of them live in the country, so…
August 2nd, 2008 at 1:01 pmI use google.com/bookmarks. Works perfectly. Also post stuff to my linkblog.
