Pink and Red

I should be blogging and explaining why I’ve gone pink again this year and what Pink for October is exactly. Unfortunately, I’m sick as hell and feeling completely drained and unmotivated.

Suffice to say, then, that P4O is an annual event aimed at fund raising for and creating awareness about breast cancer and the fight against it. As usual, a lot of 9rulers (and others of course) are joining.

Added to feeling this shabby, my computer crashed as well a few days ago. I’m not sure what’s wrong with it yet, but it’s definitely not good. I’m thinking mother board or something. Next to my wrecked PC, I also have an old iBook lying around with a busted power chord. I need to go the shops and see if I can get it replaced.

All this, then, to say: yes, I’m going pink from today, but I can’t work on anything much. Expect some more pink badges and stuff in the near future.

And some more posts on the subject.

And while we’re going pink, why not go red today as well, since today is international protest day against the government repression in Burma. Wearing a red tee while people are getting shot? Putting up a pink badge to fight cancer? It may be stupid, but what else can we do? This is the least.

I’m feeling pretty crummy too and am trying to get over a cold, but at least my PC problems are getting better. 2 gig of RAM and a 500GB HDD arrived in the post and tonight I’m going to be dual installing Vista and Ubuntu. Happy days!

It’s nice that I’ll get to start from scratch on the PC and WILL keep everything organised on this one!

I picked that up somehow but it never really registered, my head being clogged with muck. I’ll check out that post again.

Seems like an I-feel-shit-weekend. I feel terrible too. Though my pain is self-inflicted–a little too much cheap Whisky.

Nice to see you’ve gone pink.

If you are interested in learning more about the situation in Burma and what people are doing, check out the group on Razoo and the new movie that is in the works. Thanks!

Way to go pink. I think your site looks really good :)

Oh Nils, I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly, both in body and in technology. Here’s to the resumption of rude good health — soon! As a woman who has had breast cancer, I can’t tell you how moving it is to see people paying attention to this particular disease. Sure, there are tons of things that need doing and fixing in the world, and that can be completely overwhelming. Change in any part of our troubled world comes most often from the accumulation of individual actions, which is why individual action should never be underestimated. Much love, BL

I am so sorry you are so sick. I wish you health fast and no more troubles with silly computers.

Thank you for going pink again…As you know i have lost a few friends to this horrible disease.

It is good to come and visit you again, it is certainly been too long.

Many hugs your way and chicken soup and ginger ale and crackers (virtually of course) go your way…

  7. Nils:

Thanks gals, Chana and BL. Always a pleasure to have you on board. I’m not sure yet what I should blog about now because I’ve not yet known anyone with this kind of cancer (luckily). However, I’ve seen plenty other kinds and I think doing anything at all about it is worth the effort. I just couldn’t not do it you see. Take care.

I’ve gone pink for October and am encouraging anyone who has gone pink for October to go to my blog, and add their link to my Mr. Linky roll call. I am donating .50 for each site that goes pink, up to $100. You can add your link by going to http://solostinwi.com/cgi/wp/?p=1626 and adding your blog. What a simple way to help out breast cancer research!

    Sincerely,

    So Lost In Wisconsin

And what a great idea. How good of you. I’ll be sure to add mine.

I’ll be writing more about P4O later this month and I’ll try and come up with a good idea for supporting my local organizations.
